Cuban spirit was alive on Monday night at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater for the screening of                                                             Academy Film Archive 's 'Fresa y Chocolate.'

Fresa Y Chocolate was Cuba’s only Foreign Language Film Award nominee to date.  The film explores political tensions in Castro’s Cuba in the 1970s, especially in regard to the oppression of the gay community. The event included Cuban music, a presentation of Cuban Poster art as well as a live panel discussion with the Actors & Directors:

We enjoyed bringing the flavors of Cuba to the buffet for this vibrant evening. Our small bites menu included mouth watering Cuban favorites from savory options to delightful desserts:  Spicy Cuban Mojo Chicken with Mango Salsa, Vaca Frita,           Pescado Encocado, White Fish on Bamboo with Coconut Sauce

Black Bean Quinoa Cakes with Creamy Spinach Sauce, Garlic Plantains, Cuban Salad in Individual Containers,                         Butter Lettuce, Tomatoes, Avocado, Red Onions, Feta Cheese and Lime Vinaigrett

And the STAR of the evening of course was the dessert featuring A Trio of Chocolate Covered Strawberries with   Milk•White•Dark Chocolate, Torticas de Moron: Sugar Cookies and Arroz Con Leche Shooters
