The Academy Takes A Look Back at “Zoot Suit” Back

Posted September 27, 2017

Friends and fans gathered together on Monday evening September 25 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater  for the Academy's screening of the 1981 film adaption of the broadway play 'Zoot Suit.'  " Grappling with issues of stereotyping, discrimination and the search for ethnic identity, Valdez' landmark work survives as a stylish and intense call for justice that is still relevant almost 40 years later." The evening also included a  live panel discussion featuring director-writer Luis Valdez, producer Peter Burrell, and actors Edward James Olmos, Rose Portillo and Alma Martinez.
